Choosing the right safety shoes for you is not an easy task, as safety shoes can be selected based on a number of requirements: safety standards, work environment, additional requirements, and more. One thing you should never compromise on is comfort when wearing shoes! At Parade, our customers’ comfort in safety and work shoes is our top priority! Wearing safety shoes that fit your foot shape will make your walking more comfortable, and provide overall comfort while keeping you safe.

Keep in mind that not everyone has the same foot shape, and there may even be differences between your left and right foot. That’s why in this article, we’ll give you some tips to help you choose the right shoe for your foot type.

First, we will help you to recognize the shape of your feet. Next, Parade Protection will give you advice on choosing shoes for flat feet and for hollow feet. Following these tips, you will find shoes that suit every foot shape: flat or hollow. Finally, we will explain the benefits of Parade Protection technology.

1. Know your foot shape

Before buying a new pair of safety shoes, you need to know and understand your foot shape.

Look at the arch of your foot. This is the hollow, curved part of your foot, shaped like an arch, hence the name.

They are usually divided into three types:

- Low arch means you have flat feet.
- Medium arch means you have normal feet.
- High arch means you have hollow feet.

If your feet are "flat," they have no arch. Flat feet change the distribution of your weight. This is called "inversion," which means your foot falls outward from your heel, then curves and shifts your weight toward the inside edge of the ball of your foot. Poor weight distribution can cause discomfort.

If your feet are "even," they have a normal arch, which allows for even weight distribution.

Finally, if your feet are "hollow," their arches are very prominent. Hollow feet reduce the support point and change the distribution of weight on your foot. This distribution of weight can cause discomfort and increase the risk of injury.

To get an idea of the structure of your feet, wet your feet and step on cardboard. You will then see a footprint of your feet.

If the footprint is the same shape as your entire foot (on the far right of the diagram), you are likely to have flat feet. Conversely, if the footprint is a foot without your arch showing (in the middle of the diagram), you are likely to have hollow feet.

2. What type of shoes should I choose for flat feet?

For flat feet, choose safety shoes that:

> Have a high arch to support the ankle and instep

> Have laces or hook-and-loop fastenings to adjust the opening of the shoe and fit the shape of your foot

> With a heel lift

> With a polycarbonate or composite toe cap. These materials are thicker, allowing for a wider toe box and forefoot, giving you more room for your toes

> With good arch and foot support

> With a flexible sole. Choose safety shoes with a fabric puncture-resistant sole. These are more flexible than steel-toe, which is more rigid.

3. What kind of shoes to choose for hollow feet?

For hollow feet, choose safety shoes:

> Wide so that your toes don't squeeze. Safety shoes with polycarbonate or toe caps are wider.

> With arch support.

> With a strong heel plate to support the back of your foot and keep your ankle in place. The heel counter is the part that holds the shoe in place and holds your heel in place.

> With a thick sole for better shock absorption.

> With an adjustable opening with laces or Velcro to adjust the shoe to your foot shape.

Choosing safety shoes for hollow feet:

For hollow feet, we recommend safety shoes with "JUAN" insoles. This product line has a very high floating arch with Parade VPS technology, which provides good support for hollow feet.

4. Technology parade.

Parade has developed 3 exclusive technologies to make our safety shoes more comfortable. These technologies support the foot or absorb shock. If you have flat or hollow feet, these technologies can help alleviate these symptoms.

- The VPS system is a technology that hugs the arch of the foot and maintains the natural shape of the sole. With its ergonomic shape, this support reduces premature fatigue and provides unmatched comfort. The VPS is specifically designed for hollow feet. It may be suitable for "normal" feet, but it supports the natural shape of the arch. It is very good for hollow feet when standing.
- The Parade Air system is an air bubble in the sole that absorbs small vibrations and shocks. This technology is very effective, shock absorbing, designed for people who walk a lot and need a little shock absorption.
- The DRS (delete resonance system) is a half-dome in the heel area that disperses shock waves and causes injuries. DRS is for "active" people such as those who jump down stairs, which will help reduce shock.

Whether your feet are thin, wide, hollow or flat, wearing safety shoes that fit your foot shape will help you walk more comfortably and provide overall comfort while keeping you safe.
